Chamber Board of Directors

A welcome message from your President

Welcome to the Greater Hermiston Chamber of Commerce 2008/2009 Community Profile and Membership Directory.  Whether you are a long time resident or new to Hermiston, this directory is the premier information source for our town, local businesses, service organizations and recreational amenities that make our area one of the most livable and fastest growing destinations in Oregon.

Along with all the other Chamber members, I am proud to be affiliated with such a progressive and dynamic organization as the Greater Hermiston Chamber of Commerce.  The dedication and hard work of the Executive Director and her staff is second to none in promoting and supporting local business.  Their ingenuity, enthusiasm and genuine caring attitudes have made the Chamber an innovative and integral part of our town.  They exemplify the spirit of Hermiston and its citizens in every event, seminar and project they take on.

Whether you are an individual or a business, I invite you to get involved in the many events and programs held at the Chamber and Hermiston Conference Center;  Leadership Hermiston, Seminars and Workshops, Funfest, Professional Assistant’s Day Luncheon, Wine and Cheese Festival/Vintner Dinner, Saturday Farmers Market, Distinguished Service Awards Banquet, Farm Fair Ag and Trade Show, Hermiston Education Foundation Art Auction, Altrusa Auction, Breakfast of Champions, Ambassadors Golf Tournament and the Sports Boosters Auction and Steak Feed, to name just a few.  By choosing to volunteer or simply to attend any of these activities, you have become a part of the only organization in our community that is an advocate for all business.  Your participation is an integral part of the continued vitality and excellent quality of life, livability and economic future of our city and the surrounding area.

With Eastern Oregon being one of the fastest growing areas in the state and Hermiston being the fastest growing city in Eastern Oregon, our city government, our medical facilities and our public school system have all faced the challenges this growth has placed on public, private and non-profit agencies.  They continually strive to improve and enhance the services they provide.   Our city Parks and Recreation Department has done an exemplary job this past year by opening Riverfront Park on the Umatilla River and by erecting the bell tower and clock in McKenzie Park for Hermiston’s 100th anniversary celebration.  They also take advantage of every opportunity to promote the Columbia River and Umatilla River recreational areas.  With sailing, swimming, water skiing, wind surfing and fishing on the Columbia, and kayaking, swimming, canoeing and fishing on the Umatilla, Hermiston is a haven to water sports enthusiasts and their families.

2008 marks the Greater Hermiston Chamber of Commerce’s 100th Anniversary!  Celebrate with us by becoming a member and participating in the many activities and events offered by the Chamber.   By investing in your Chamber, you play a vital role in developing new and sustaining the growth of local businesses, as well as enhancing and preserving Hermiston’s livability for generations to come.

                                                             Sincerely,

                                                            Dee Strawick, President
