President’s Message

Hello! If you’re one of our newest neighbors, welcome to Hermiston—you’re going to love it here. This Community Guide & Business Directory is provided to give you an introduction to our community. It also serves as a one-stop information source for both new and long-time residents, telling you all about our town, our businesses, our service organizations the recreation opportunities and other features that make Hermiston a very special community.

Hermiston is a strong, vibrant community, and continues to grow.  Our mild, “deserty” weather provides lots of sun and blue skies – perfect for enjoying your favorite activities.  Our local businesses and industries provide our community a solid economic base.  Our school system is, by any definition, the best in our region (as you go about town, note the three new schools being built). We have strong healthcare services (full disclosure: I’m the hospital CEO), and our diverse yet collaborative faith-based community offers a home to everyone.

I encourage both businesses and individuals to get involved in our community. There’s something here for everyone. And local businesses couldn’t be better served with Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Debbie Pedro and her dedicated staff.

We enjoy life here in Hermiston. Hunters, fishermen, and water sports enthusiasts have many options for their favorite pastime.  We also support one another through service organizations and participation in civic activities and programs. Put simply, Hermiston is us—it’s you. Our strength is in our people. Your Chamber staff can help you find the program or event you’re looking for.

If you’ve lived here awhile and haven’t fully participated in Chamber and community activities, now’s the time. And if you’re just getting settled, then it’s my pleasure to welcome you aboard on behalf of your Greater Hermiston Chamber of Commerce.

Dennis Burke, President
