ABOUT LEADERSHIP HERMISTON:

Participants will have the opportunity to meet the community and regional leaders who are shaping policy and providing direction in these areas.

 

TUITION

The cost of Leadership Hermiston is $600 for Chamber members and $850 for non-members. The classes are held on the second Tuesday of each month, September through June. Participants will be expected to attend all classes to be eligible for graduation. Tuition is due upon notification of selection and not later than the first week of September. Tuition is non-refundable.

 

GRADUATION

Graduation is a special evening of celebration held the second Tuesday of June for participants and their guests.

 

 

 

SCHEDULE:

SEPTEMBER

Teambuilding Evening Opening Reception

Class members will meet former leadership alumni. After the reception the class will get to know each other with the help of their facilitator.

 

OCTOBER

Agriculture and Technology

Look at critical water issues and the importance of agriculture in the economy and in our area.

 

NOVEMBER

Economic Development

Learn what economic development is and how it happens on local and state levels.

 

DECEMBER

Human Needs and Services

Learn about the resources available locally from private and public agencies and groups to assist people in need.

 

JANUARY

The Justice System

Focus on law enforcement and the circuit court in Hermiston and our region with a tour of Two Rivers Correctional Institute.

 

FEBRUARY

The Media

Meet the players in our regional media, including radio, newspapers and television.

 

MARCH

Education

Tour schools from kindergarten through college. Learn issues facing education, including teacher recruitment, school funding, accountability and alternative education.

 

APRIL

Local and State Government

Learn how decisions and policies are made and meet city, county and state leaders. Overnight trip to Salem for a tour of the State Capitol when Legislature is in session.

 

MAY

Medical Health Services/History and Culture

Gain knowledge of health care and issues facing that industry and visit our newest facilities. Meet a representative of the Umatilla County Historical Society and hear some Hermiston history.

 

JUNE

Leadership in Action

A half-day session with motivational speaker on leadership with a class discussion of opportunities for volunteer involvement in community organizations.

 

Leadership Hermiston is a 10 month program with full day sessions once a month designed to expose participants to current issues facing our community.
